Vanguard reports that Mohammed made this announcement on Tuesday, September 20 when a delegation of the National Council for Women’s Societies paid him a courtesy visit in his office in Abuja.

Lai Mohammed says government will start paying the promised N5,000 in September.
Mohammed said he was only reiterating the words of finance minister Kemi Adeosun who had earlier announced this. The move, he said was to show that the commitment of the government to improving the well-being and standard of living of the citizens remains unwavering.
“We are very concerned about the welfare of Nigerians and we are not sleeping; we are working day and night to ensure that the country retraces its step.
“This is time to join hands together to support the government to move the nation forward,”he said.
Mohammed also confirmed that government had started processing for the recruitment the applications it received for the 500,000 jobs it declared available.
“The process for the recruitment has started.
“About 1.2 million people applied and they classified them into categories including agriculture support officers, teachers, technical officers and so on,’’he said
